Unsolicited Commercial Email (Spam) Policy:
This page is out of date. It will be updated soon with detailed information regarding email filtering in use by elb.net, and instructions for account holders.
elb.net views unsolicited commercial email as a form of "theft of service". Therefore we have adopted anti-spam policies with regards to both email originating from and email destined to elb.net's users and servers.
UCE originating from elb.net:
Any user of elb.net services found to have sent unsolicited commercial email will have their account terminated immediately and without the possibility of appeal. Contact postmaster@elb.net to report spam originating from elb.net or one of its hosted domains.
UCE originating from elsewhere:
elb.net employs the use of services which automatically block email from potential sources of spam, such as known open mail relays and known sources of previous spam. These services include:
- MAPS RBL - Mail Abuse Prevention System's Realtime Blackhole
- MAPS DUL - Mail Abuse Prevention System's Dial-Up List.
- MAPS RSS - Mail Abuse Prevention System's Relay Spam Stopper.
Furthermore, elb.net reserves the right to manually add any mailserver from which unsolicited commercial email is received to the list of those blocked, as well as report them to such automated blocking services as those above as a known source of spam.
If you are a legitimate sender of email to elb.net or one of its hosted domains and you get an error message referring to one of the above services, contact your mailserver administrator and supply the full text of the error message. Please do not complain to elb.net regarding blocked email, it is the responsibility of your mailserver's administrator to properly secure mail service from abuse by spammers.
